ABOUT US

B2C Technologies is a social enterprise, determined to address the growing divide between various socio-economic groups so that everyone can access technology and learn digitally-necessary life-skills.

The Australian Digital Inclusion Index 2016, revealed that being 'connected' goes beyond having access to the internet.

It also includes:

  • Access to technology (various devices)
  • Skills & knowledge
  • Tech support
  • Access to affordable internet

To bridge the divide, B2C Technologies works with the government and corporate enterprise to refurbish their donated computers and laptops. As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher all computers are fully decommissioned, cleaned, tested and comes with approved Microsoft software installed.

B2C technologies then works with various charities and community groups to provide affordable computers to low income individuals and the general public, Australia-wide. All participants of the social enterprise receive high-quality training and support. We are proud to help our nation build the life-skills needed so that every community can effectively participate and engage in the world we live in.

Working with our charity partners, we not only provide participants with a computer, we also provide training material, tech support via our helpdesk and internet via our social enterprise telco, Mobotel.

Why are we doing this?

"Digital inclusion is about ensuring everyone is able to access and use digital technologies, take advantage of improving educational standards, be included in social and financial benefits of being connected.

In terms of skills, disadvantaged kids continue to have poorer digital literacy results,  than households with affordable technologies.

The most advantaged communities of Australia, 91% of children aged 5 to 14 years accessed the internet at home over a 12 month period, and only 48% of children in the most disadvantaged communities have access.

Furthermore, 4 in 10 of the lowest income households in Australia are not connected to the internet.

For disadvantaged students, 42% reached the proficient standard in Year 6, compared to 72% for non-disadvantaged students.

In general, Australians with low levels of income, education and employment are significantly less digitally included".

What we've achieved so far...

We have helped over 8,000 families since 2009

In 2017, we can confirmed the following:

  • We have provided computers and laptops to  over 10,000 participants involved on our programs
  • Internet access was also provided to participants along with help desk support while participating in our programs

Of these participants Australia wide:

  • 70 Locations across Victoria
  • 63 Locations across New South Wales
  • 39 Locations in Queensland
  • 16 Locations across South Australian and Western Australia
  • 10 Locations across Tasmania and the Northern Territory

Our feedback over the duration was that the participants were extremely happy with the technology, internet and help desk support B2C Technologies provided.

Just imagine what having access to technology does for a child's confidence and ability to learn necessary life-skills.

By making technology more accessible to everyone, we're contributing to the future of our children so they can learn, feel included in the community and enter the workforce one day.
